MANILA, Philippines – The Professional Regulation Commission announced on Wednesday, December 14, that 6,836 out of 14,322 passed the Nurse Licensure Examination given by the Board of Nursing in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga last November 2016.

The members of the Board of Nursing who gave the licensure examination are Marian Grace A. Gascon, Chairman; Gloria B. Arcos, Carmelita C. Divinagracia, Carfredda P. Dumlao, Glenda S. Arquiza, Florence C. Cawaon and Cora A. Añonuevo, Members.

The well-loved Jollibee mascot is conceived to support brand awareness and identity efforts. Other mascots are later introduced.

1981

Jollibee Foods Corporation enters the list of Top 1000 Corporations in the Philippines.

1982

Billionaire Tony Tan Caktiong

When Tony Tan Caktiong looks back at his childhood, he remembers tasting things. His father, a chef in a Buddhist monastery in Manila, would return home to cook for his family, making delicious meals from whatever simple ingredients he could find. “My mother would say I was the most difficult to bring up because I was the choosiest in terms of taste, whereas my brothers would just eat anything,” recalls the third of seven children. “She would say, ‘You are the hardest to satisfy.’ ”

Starting with two Manila ice cream parlors in 1978, Tan has built his Jollibee Foods into one of Asia’s largest home-grown restaurant companies. It boasted 2,581 Jollibees and other fast-food restaurants under various brands as of Sept. 30. Today what he calls Jollibee’s “
flavorful environment” and his Buddhist penchant for simplicity are on full display at outlets from Saudi Arabia to the borough of Queens in New York City. “We keep things simple and fill a simple need: very tasty food at a reasonable price. To this day I repeat to my people what my father told me–you have to make sure your food tastes really good.”

Jollibee’s red-and-white bumblebee logo is a familiar sight in the Philippines, where there are now 2,040 outlets after roughly 120 were added in past three years. It controls 18% of the Metro Manila market, compared with 10% for McDonald’s, according to a report on last year’s third quarter compiled for internal use. That ubiquity has made Tan a billionaire–worth roughly $1.3 billion by FORBES ASIA’s latest estimate. Not bad for a restaurant owner whose wife, Grace, says has never really learned to cook. THE POLICEMEN OF THE PHILIPPINES

MANILA, Philippines – The tandem of Rodrigo Duterte and Alan Peter Cayetano promises to improve the justice system, and not resort to extrajudicial killing, to eliminate crime and corruption, the vice presidential candidate said.

Central to their plan is the increase of salaries of policemen to P75,000 to P100,000 each within 3 years, Cayetano said at a press conference in Taguig City on Monday, January 4.

“There is no extrajudicial killing in our platform. There is only a firm, fair, and fearless application of the law,” said Cayetano, who is Duterte's running mate.

The latest political tandem to emerge, the Davao City mayor and the senator from Taguig City are running on a platform centered on fighting crime and corruption.

The P75,000-P100,000 ($1,600-$2,100) proposed salary is a huge sum compared to what police officers earn these days.

According to the government's compensation scheme for uniformed personnel, the lowest rank of police officer (Police Officer I) earns only P14,834 ($315) in monthly base pay. The lowest sum promised by Duterte and Cayetano, P75,000, is 5 times that amount. MORE DETAILS >>>>>>

New Adminisytration first memo, Ensure effective delivery of gov't services

MANILA, Philippines — The new administration of President Rodrigo Duterte issued its first memorandum circular which seeks to ensure continuous and effective delivery of government services to the public.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed the memo which was issued on Thursday, the same day as Duterte's inauguration.

All government officials and employees were directed to continue serving until July 31 unless their appointments are revoked, resignations are accepted, replacements appointed or reappointments issued.

The order covers the following:

All government officials and employees whose appointments are coterminous with the appointing authority and whose positions are within an agency's plantilla except the head of agency
Those holding positions whose terms of office have expired, unless otherwise prohibited by law and/or other government rules and regulations READ MORE >>>>>>
